The Chancel Choir sings diverse and time-honored Lutheran music. Hymns and liturgy are primarily from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) book, Styles range from ancient to modern and come from all Lutheran world traditions.

The 11 am worship music is led by Music Director Glenn Ludtke. He not only plays the pipe organ and piano but also conducts the Chancel Choir.


The choir practices at 7:30 pm Wednesdays, and all are welcome!

Our pipe organ

Construction of Augustana Lutheran Church’s building at NE 15th and Knott was completed in 1952. A pipe organ was purchased from Reuter and Co. of Lawrence, Kansas. In 1986 Augustana received an anonymous gift for enhancement of the organ. In June 1987 the congregation approved a proposal from Rene A. Marceau Pipe Organ Builders (then located in Portland but now headquartered in Seattle). The installation was completed in 1989, and the organ specifications can be found here.

Among the improvements, the pipes of the Great division of the organ were moved from the side chamber to the central chamber behind and above the altar. A row of flamed copper pipes was positioned in front to give the instrument a visual identity. A new three-manual console and more pipes were also added.
